Los Angeles Business Journal’s Inside the Valley sat down with Managing Partner Barry Pearlman to talk about how the firm is celebrating 40 years of defending California employers and five things about himself and the firm.
Pearlman decided to start his firm after seeing the difficulties his father and brothers faced running a family business. With a loan from his parents, Pearlman opened PB&W in Tarzana and then established the firm’s headquarters in Encino in 1993. Since its founding, PB&W has become a breeding ground for judicial talent – to date, ten of the firm’s attorneys have become workers’ compensation judges.
Outside of his law practice, he co-owns a candy shop in Granada Hills that is run by his son Austin Pearlman and Samantha McDougall. “Austin loves children and, after working in the film business for a while with kids with special needs (like himself) he wanted to open up a business. Samantha and Austin became partners and I assist as manager/member,” he commented.
