The passion for justice that inspired me to establish the firm in 1984 has only deepened over the years, and today, I can say that passion has grown to include our dedicated staff and clients. You are the reason behind our success and longevity. You are the foundation that will propel our firm forward for the next 40 years. Each of you has become a vital part of my life.

New CA WVPP Rule and Minimum Wage Changes
As of July 1, 2024, important changes took effect for California employers:
- Must implement a comprehensive WVPP to ensure the safety and well-being of employees and to comply with Labor Code § 6401.9.
- Minimum wage increased for certain cities. It’s essential to verify where your employees, including remote workers, are located to determine if the local minimum wage laws apply.

WCAB Issues En Banc Decision Clarifying the Process for Rebutting Combined Values Chart
In Vigil v. County of Kern, the WCAB held en banc: The CVC in the PDRS may be rebutted and impairments may be added where an applicant establishes the impact of each impairment on ADLs, and that either:
(a) there is no overlap between the effects on ADLs as between the body parts rated; or
(b) there is overlap, but the overlap increases or amplifies the impact on the overlapping ADLs.
