Edwin Alvarez Wants to Champion Diversity for the Next Generation

When approached about becoming a member of the DEI committee, Edwin Alvarez jumped at the chance—not only to advocate for his coworkers, but to set an example for his kids. “I represent the vast number of Hispanic and Latino members of our firm, and me being a part of this committee shows that we’re including them and keeping them in mind,” he said. “As a father of two, I’m always trying to promote inclusion and diversity with my kids and raise them to be future leaders.”

Edwin has been a longtime coach for kids’ sports teams and is passionate about events that bring people of diverse backgrounds together. His goal is to host events where his colleagues can volunteer and work together like the Earth Day clean-up hosted in April. When PB&W staff members joined together to pick up trash around a local reservoir he couldn’t have been prouder. “I’m very proud to be with a firm that’s diverse and welcoming. I consider us a family, and I want to have a positive outlet to celebrate our diversity so we can continue to work together in the best way possible,” Edwin adds.

Edwin has been in the workers’ compensation industry for over 21 years and is well-versed on labor codes, regulations and fee schedule issues. He continues to be a life-long learner and enjoys workers’ compensation-related classes and seminars. In his free time, he enjoys coaching his kids in their sports, whether it be soccer or baseball, as well as spending time with his family.
