Arnold “Arnie” Hafford was born in Reno, Nevada. Mr. Hafford graduated from the University of Nevada-Reno in 1979, earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice with High Distinction. In 1982 Mr. Hafford graduated from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctor Degree.
Mr. Hafford is admitted to practice in California and Nevada. Since 1983 he has practiced in the State Courts of California, the State and Federal Courts of Nevada, and before Administrative Agencies in both States.
Mr. Hafford served as an Intern at the Nevada Supreme Court where he researched and prepared Bench Memorandums for use by the Supreme Court Justices during oral argument and wrote per curium opinions approved and issued by the Court. Mr. Hafford then served as a Judicial Law Clerk for Trial Judge John W. Barrett of the Second Judicial District Court for Washoe County, Nevada.
After his Clerkship, Mr. Hafford entered the practice of civil litigation in Reno with the branch office of a National Law Firm, where he became a partner. Mr. Hafford prosecuted and defended cases in many areas of law, including workers’ compensation, personal injury, probate, natural resources, business, contract and construction. He frequently handled complex litigation tried before juries and the bench.
Mr. Hafford ultimately opened his own Law Office in Reno where his practice for almost 7 years focused on plaintiff’s personal injury and applicant’s workers’ compensation in Nevada and California.
In late 2002 Mr. Hafford and his family moved to the Bay Area. Since that time, he has practiced workers’ compensation defense exclusively in California, representing insurance companies, self-insured employers, third party administrators and other entities. This representation has also included the prosecution of claims for subrogation.
For over 13 years Mr. Hafford was employed as house counsel for a well-known Insurance Company. During that time, he served as a Senior Litigation Attorney and an Assistant Vice President, where he developed, managed and supervised the Company’s Trial Initiative Program. Mr. Hafford also chaired the Company’s Coverage Committee.
Mr. Hafford specializes in complex, high exposure and fraud cases. He has also developed an expertise in the AMA Guides and permanent disability rating and enjoys the challenge of medical/legal issues and doctor cross-examinations.
Mr. Hafford treasures his free time with his wife, Linda. They love to visit their 6 grown children and 5 grandchildren (with 2 more on the way) as often as they can, especially any opportunity to watch them participate in softball, baseball, basketball, swimming & soccer.
