Nikki Mehrpoo is a partner at the Law Offices of Pearlman, Brown & Wax, LLP, where she specializes in all aspects of workers’ compensation and immigration law. She is the first and only dual-certified legal specialist in Workers’ Compensation and Immigration Law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. Before joining the firm, Nikki was a Workers’ Compensation Judge assigned to both the Van Nuys and Marina del Rey District Offices of the California Department of Industrial Relations, Division of Workers’ Compensation.

She brings a true unique perspective in defending workers’ compensation claims from case inception to trial and appeal, especially in catastrophic and high value work injuries, because of her comprehensive experience as an attorney, expert witness, Professor of Law, prior Workers’ Compensation Judge and Applicant Attorney. She has extensive litigation experience in workers’ compensation claims, Serious & Willful misconduct claims and claimed violations of California Labor Code §132a. She also handles issues related to employment law, undocumented immigrants, ADA and FEHA.

She began her legal career in 1997, after earning her law degree from Pepperdine University School of Law and her admission to The State Bar of California that same year. Nikki graduated Cum Laude from California State University, Northridge, California in 1994 with a B.S. in Political Science.

She is a nationally and internationally recognized distinguished expert, speaker and analyst on all topics related to workers’ compensation and immigration law. She is a sought after speaker on a variety of topics related to workers compensation and immigration law, including presenting for the DWC Educational Conference, California Lawyers Association, California Applicant Attorney’s Association and training Qualified Medical Evaluators (QME) and claims professionals in legal and risk management.

In addition, she has shared her valuable insight and expertise as an international legal analyst for French television – France 5; Iranian Radio KIRN 670 AM; Japanese Weekly Magazine – Tokyo Keizai Magazine, in Denmark on Ekstra Bladet, as well as Business Insurance and WCAuthority.com analyzing high-profile cases, court decisions and legal issues.

Nikki is a past President of the Iranian American Lawyers Association, former Commissioner of the California State Bar Workers’ Compensation Law Advisory Commission, and former member of the Board of Directors for the California Applicants’ Attorneys Association (CAAA). She has also served as an editor and contributing author of several legal publications for the American Immigration Lawyers Association, including Navigating the Fundamentals of Immigration Law (2016–17 Ed.) and Immigration Practice Toolbox, Third and Fourth Editions.
